Skin types
In my experience nobody belongs to just one skin type. Most people have a combination of different skin types.
Normal skin
Normal skin has balanced sebum production. It is neither too oily nor too dry, with a healthy glow and fine pores.
Recommended products for this skin typeCharacteristics
Even skin tone, fine pores, supple and hydrated skin, rarely any skin problems.
Care tips
Keep your skin in balance with gentle cleansers and light moisturisers. Use sun protection every day and exfoliate once a week for radiant skin.
Dry skin
Due to insufficient sebum production, dry skin feels tight, flakes and looks dull. It especially needs deep hydration and nourishing ingredients.
Recommended products for this skin typeCharacteristics
A feeling of tightness, flaking, a dull complexion, early fine lines and a tendency to sensitivity.
Care tips
Choose rich, nourishing creams and oils. Avoid cleansers containing sulfates. Use a hydrating serum (hyaluronic acid) and protect your skin from extreme weather.
Oily skin
Due to excess sebum production, oily skin looks shiny, has enlarged pores and is prone to breakouts and blackheads.
Recommended products for this skin typeCharacteristics
A shiny surface (especially in the T-zone), enlarged pores, a tendency to breakouts and blackheads, thicker skin.
Care tips
Use light, water-based moisturisers and a clay mask every week. Don’t dry your skin out too much, as that triggers even more sebum. Niacinamide and salicylic acid are beneficial.
Combination skin
Combination skin is oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry or normal on the rest of the face. It needs a tailored care approach.
Recommended products for this skin typeCharacteristics
An oily, shiny T-zone with enlarged pores, dry or normal cheeks, and skin that changes with the seasons.
Care tips
Care for each zone separately: lighter products on the T-zone and richer ones on dry areas. Light gel-textured moisturisers are ideal. Use a gentle exfoliant 1–2 times a week.
Sensitive skin
Sensitive skin reacts strongly to external triggers: redness, irritation, burning or itching are common. It needs especially gentle, natural ingredients.
Recommended products for this skin typeCharacteristics
Redness, irritation, a burning or stinging sensation, dryness, flaky patches, reactions to perfumes and synthetic ingredients.
Care tips
Choose fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products with minimal ingredients. Chamomile, aloe vera and calendula are naturally soothing. Always do a patch test before using a new product.
